Apoyamos a individuos, grupos comunitarios, organizaciones y movimientos sociales con interpretación, traducción, clases y talleres desde un marco de justicia del lenguaje para avanzar en nuestras luchas colectivas por la justicia, construyendo relaciones comunitarias y confianza.

About Us
Creado en 2016 después de una capacitación liderada por Catalina Nieto y Nico Udu-gama del Highlander Center, el Colectivo de Justicia de Lenguaje de Tucson es un grupo informal basado en tierra Tohono O'odham y Pascua Yaqui que trabaja para apoyar a la comunidad multilingüe y fortalecer el trabajo de justicia local proveyendo interpretación asequible a través de pagos de escala móvil, y en ocasiones clases y talleres. Queremos hacer más para apoyar la justicia del lenguaje en los vibrantes espacios organizativos de Tucson. Actualmente ofrecemos principalmente interpretación entre español e inglés porque estos son los idiomas que hablan nuestros miembros actuales, pero sabemos que la justicia lingüística sólo se puede lograr si todos los idiomas hablados, expresados a través de señas y soñados en un espacio están igualmente representados, especialmente los idiomas de pueblos indígenas cuyas tierras habitamos, y especialmente cualquier idioma que signifique hogar para ti o para tu familia. Ya sea que tengas o no experiencia con la interpretación, te invitamos a comunicarte con nosotres, a practicar la interpretación con nosotres y a imaginar y crear la justicia del lenguaje con nosotres!
Started in 2016 after a training led by Catalina Nieto and Nico Udu-gama of the Highlander Center, the Tucson Language Justice Collective is an informal group based on Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui land working to support multilingual community and strengthen local justice work through affordable sliding-scale interpretation, and sometimes classes and workshops. We just got on social media for the first time because we know there are so many incredible people nearby who we have not had the opportunity to connect with, and because we want to do more to support language justice across Tucson’s vibrant organizing spaces. We currently primarily offer interpretation between Spanish and English because these are the languages that our current members speak, but we know that language justice can only be achieved if all languages spoken, signed, and dreamed in a space are equally represented, especially the languages of indigenous people whose lands we inhabit, and especially whatever languages mean home for you or for your family. Whether or not you have experience with interpretation, we invite you to reach out to us, to practice interpreting with us, and to imagine and create language justice with us!
